Park City
Sunday 19 February 1995

Weather

Warm and sunny with blue skies.

Conditions

Snow in pretty good condition, starting to become slick on steeper slopes and heavy near the base.

Overall

The first day of our 1995 ski trip. Apart from the tables of runs, the notes are pretty sparse.

John clambering up the snow at the edge of the car park at the start of the day.

Mike getting ready at the start of the day.

The ticket desks

The base area looking across the bottom of Payday lift towards the race hill.

The last time that she skied, Jenny broke her arm and before we started she seemed a little nervous. The plan was that I would ski with her to help rebuild her confidence. The list of runs shows that there really wasn't a problem and almost immediately, she was in full flow and leading me down the runs from King Con.

Being the Sunday of the Presidents Day weekend meant that this was the busiest day of the year and at times the queue for Prospector and King Con got up to 25 minutes at times, even using the singles line.

The most difficult run of the day was probably The Hoist, which starts off disceptively flat and then steepens up with fearsome moguls. Moving across onto Thaynes solved the steepness but not the moguls. A tough run for day one.
